Volume I, published by Hitt & Paul, indicates Third American Edition, 1820. Volumes II-IV (last three of old testament) indicate 1825 and are early editions. Volume IV may be a first edition. Clarke started with publishing the beginning of the Old Testament but then switched to the New Testament and finally back to the Old Testament. Volume IV may be a first American edition or even a first edition. These three volumes are all published by Paul. (Volume IV erroneously says Volume V on the title page.) Volume I of the New Testament is published in 1817 by Hitt & Paul and is a second American edition. Volume II of the New Testament is published in 1823 by Paul and is an early edition. Full leather covers with gilt lettering on spine. 5 raised bands on each spine. Boards and corners are pleasing with only light wear. Vol III of OT has minor nickel sized chip in spine. Some minor moisture marks and foxing. Bindings are solid. This set is handsome and stately and usable. It would make a fine addition to any theological collection. Full refund if not satisfied.

Polished full tree calf leather. Gilt lettering on red and brown leather spine labels. Covers show light edge-wear, but leather is well-preserved, clean and glossy. Hinges sturdy inside and out. A few small stains on spine and front board. Mild foxing. Pages are sturdy and tightly bound. Penciled family history of book ownership and bookplate on slightly creased flyleaf. Name stamped on title page - no other writing or markings in the book. 554pp., with indexes. This stately volume is both visually appealing and functional. Full refund if not satisfied.
