London Routledge 1886 Full Red Leather Very Good Full Red Leather Maurice Leloir
This is a beautiful full leather book, deep red with gold gilt decor and tooling on inside covers. On the center of the cover is a decorative front piece of a woman holding a fan. Beautiful in design and appearance. Leather is in very good condition, though shows some shelf wear and scrapes where the leather has been scuffed. Both covers are securely attached. The pages have some foxing and the first several pages show moisture stains. The Preface is by Guy De Maupassant. "All the artistic part of Manon Lescaut, consisting of 225 Vignettes and ornaments, and of 12 full-page Illustrations is the work of Maurice Leloir. The 225 vignettes and ornaments are engraved on wood by Jules Huyot. The 12 full page illustrations are engraved by Louis Ruet. The book is printed by Georges Chamerot. The 12 page illustrations are printed by CH. Chardon SEN. The ink is manufactured by Charles Lorilleux." Please email for photos.
