Nathaniel Bowditch The New American Practical Navcigator being an Epitome of Navigation; containall the tables necessary to be used with the Nautical Almanac Washington government Printing Office 1868 Full Leather Good + Full Leather This book contains the fold out map of the North Atlantic. It also contains plates 2 through 14. I am not sure plate 1 was ever bound in. The owners name, R. A. Hardaway, is inside the front cover. Hardaway was an officer in Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, having formed a unit himself and furnished it at his own expense. The spine has a red label with author and title, and a black label that says Bureau of Navigation 1871. (date later than published date.) There is a chip in the leather, half inch square, that takes out most of "71". Back cover tight. Binding tight. Front cover loose. I noticed two or three pencil markings as I looked through the book. Price:
150.00 USD
