The Amerikanischer Correspondent was a newspaper printed between 1825 and 1829. These volumes contain articles and advertisements in German. Previous owner has bookmarked some pages with points of interest, including a notice about the death of Thomas Jefferson, John Q. Adams' election, and news about Napoleon and Simon Bolivar. Three solid volumes bound in full brown leather with gilt lettering on spine. Leather straps with metal clasps fasten fore edges closed. Hinges and straps are sturdy - not starting or weak. Book edges dyed yellow. Each volume contains bookplate of H. G. Hilbert of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Pages are darkened from acidic paper. A few pages are loose at hinges, but for the most part binding is tight. This set is a historical treasure. Full refund if not satisfied.
