Extremely Rare. All seven books of the Chronicles of Narnia, original first printings of the first editions in first issue dust wrappers and with no repairs. All books and dust wrappers are in VG or better condition. Brown 43, 45, 49, 51, 53, 57, 61. Hooper A21, A22, A24, A25, A26, A28, A30.All books are first editions as called for in Edwin Brown's In Pursuit of C. S. Lewis. They all contain the marvelous illustrations of Pauline Baynes. Only a few sets of this series are available and nearly all have one of the following shortcomings: they have been rebound, some lack dust wrappers, some dust wrappers are second or later issue, or some books/ wrappers have been repaired. Amazingly this set has none of the above defects. All dust wrappers are protected by mylar.The first five books of the series were published in London by Geoffrey Bles. The final two were published in London by The Bodley Head. All had dust wrappers with front cover illustrations by Baynes. Below is publishing information followed by condition information: 1. The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, 1950. 173 pp. Blank end papers.2. Prince Caspian, 1951. 195 pp. Front end papers are a map and back end papers are blank. First edition statement at the end of the book.3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, 1952. 223 pp. Front end papers are a map and back end papers are blank. First edition statement at the end of the book.4.The Silver Chair, 1953. 217 pp. Front end papers are a map and back end papers are blank.5. The Horse and His Boy, 1954. 199 pp. Front end papers are a map and back end papers are blank.6. The Magician's Nephew, 1955. 183 pp. Blank end papers.7. The Last Battle, 1956. 184 pp. Blank end papers.Condition notes: (See images at the website also)1. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Minor discoloration on spine. Silver lettering on spine is sharp and binding is solid. No writing in the book. Book is VG+. Dust wrapper is price-clipped. Minor edge wear and a couple small chips, 1/4 inches, at the top of the spine and on the back. Back of the wrapper has a 2 inch curved mark. Wrapper is VG, at least.2. Prince Caspian. Book has a bumped corner. Silver lettering on spine is sharp and binding is solid. Inside flyleaf has a large presentation label as a Sunday School gift. Dust wrapper is not price-clipped. Spine slightly faded. Quite minor edge wear with one half inch closed tear. VG, at least.3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Minor dirtiness around edges. Dark blue ink stain at bottom of front gutter, about 1/8" x 1/2". Silver lettering on spine is sharp and binding is solid. Minor foxing on first two leaves and fore edge. VG condition. Dust wrapper is price-clipped. It has edge wear which slightly damages the word "The" at the top of the spine. Back of wrapper is a bit toned in places. Wrapper is VG.4. The Silver Chair. Minor scuff marks. Silver lettering on spine is sharp and binding is solid. No writing in book. Slightly cocked. Four pages have a brown stain in the lower corner. Book is VG to VG+. Dust wrapper is not price-clipped. Not much edge wear but the top of the spine has two closed tears at the hinges - barely visible through the mylar cover. The flaps show yellowish brown acid coloration. VG at least.5. The Horse and His Boy. Nice book. Minor dirtiness on bottom edge. Silver lettering on spine is sharp and binding is solid. No writing in the book. VG+. The dust wrapper is not price clipped. Edge wear and dirtiness make this wrapper VG. Worst flaw is a 3/4 inch closed tear.6. The Magician's Nephew. Bumped corners and slightly cocked. No writing in the book. Book is VG+. Dust wrapper is not price-clipped. Edge wear at head and heal of spine. Wear at flap hinges. Closed tear, 1/4 inch, midway up front of wrapper near spine. White back of wrapper is somewhat dirty. Wrapper is VG.7. The Last Battle. Minor discoloration at center of bottom of both boards, perhaps where fingers held the book. Silver lettering on spine is sharp and binding is solid. No writing in the book. Book is VG+. Dust wrapper is not price-clipped. Spine is sunned a bit and white wrapper back is somewhat dirty. Tear/chip of a half inch at the bottom of the front hinge.
