London: Herbert & Daniel, 1912. First Edition. Hardcover. This is Williams' first book and is quite rare. It is a sequence of sonnets.
We purchased this book in a lot of Williams books at auction. Two of the books had Colin Hardie's name in them and most of them at a 2 or 3 letter code inside the back cover. (The letters in the back are DXL.) Therefore we think this was likely Colin Hardie's copy, though his name is not in it. Colin Hardie was an Inkling. There were approximately sixteen people at C. S. Lewis' funeral - Colin Hardie was one of them.
Quarter tan cloth on gray paper. A label in the upper right of the front cover has a double line border and the title inside the border. 90 pp. Uncut fore edge and bottom edge. Very good.

Dorothy L. Sayers. London: Victor Gollancz, 1937. First Edition. Hardcover. Signed on the half title page: "Salutations Distinguees / Dorothy L. Sayers." The phrase "salutations distinguees" is French and, roughly translated, it means, "your sincerely." On the first front end paper is the name "Ce'cile Peel."
Orange cloth boards with a black symbol at the bottom of the front cover. The spine has author and title in black. 446 pp. The book is in nearly very good condition with wear at all edges. Slightly cocked. The binding feels slightly loose, but no cracked hinges.
Clamshell box is a quarter black leather at the hubbed spine, boasting four raised bands and two burgundy leather labels stamped in gilt with gilt decoration. Beautiful marbled paper boards in a toupe-ish gray, burgundy, orange, off-white, and black. Buckram case edges with a black satin pull at the foredge. Clamshell is in fine, flawless condition.
A wonderful signed copy in a stunning case. Full refund if not satisfied. Please note, this item will arrive with "signature required" upon delivery. Shelley and Son Books specializes in C.S.Lewis, J.R.R.Tolkien & the Inklings. Very Good -.
