This book was owned by Lucien Memminger. On the first front end paper its says "Lucien Memminger; Prize for best hand writing; June 1890." He would have been eleven years old at the time. The book came from the library of an attorney in Henderson Country North Carolina, where Christopher G. Memminger had a home. Lucien was grandson of Christopher Memminger, Sec of Treasury for the Confederacy. He had an extensive diplomatic career, died in Buncombe County, NC and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, which is where Thomas Wolfe and O Henry are buried.
