This is a great early King James Bible with nice extras in a leather binding with working metal latches. In 1629 the first Cambridge University edition was published with the first modifications to the original KJV text. The inconsistent italics of the earlier editions as well as minor errors in the earlier printings were both corrected. However a new error was introduced: I Tim 4:16 incorrectly reads "unto thy doctrine" rather than "unto the doctrine." This was a folio sized edition. In 1630 the first cambridge quatro edition appeared. This 1633 edition is an early reprinting of the 1630 edition. This is Herbert 474. The engraving for the title page is by John Payne. The Bible is preceded by the Book of Common Prayer, missing title page and first leaf (more on this later), and the Psalter. The Old Testament is followed by the Apocrypha and the New Testament. The New Testament title page has a beautiful border and is dated 1633. This followed by the Dovvname Concordance. This is followed by the Whole Book of Psalmes in meter, printed by the printers to the Universitie of Cambridge [Buck] and dated 1633. The final leaf has a table for the Whole Number of Psalmes. The binding appears to be the original - leather on wood with brass buckles and ornaments. There is ornamentation blind stamped in the leather. Spine is professionally rebacked making the binding nice and tight. Many owner's names written throughout. The Book of Common Prayer lacks the title page, but it is likely published by Buck as other Buck Bibles have been seen with their own Book of Common Prayer. It could be Griffiths 1630/3 or 1630/4 but the pagination descriptions do not match. It could be Griffiths 1637/4 where the pagination description matches but the size of this book is 22cm not 23cm as called for. Or it could be 1637/5 which is 22cm but the pagination description does not matter. All in all, this is a wonderful old Bible.
