The letter reads: 15th August 1961. Dear Mr. Watts, With reference to your letter of the 12th; - I have no objection, and wish you every success in the matter. With kind regards,Yours sincerely,[signed] C. S. Lewis. The return address is The Kilns so this letter was likely typed by Warren and signed by C. S. Lewis. In 1961 A. E. Watts published a translation of The Poems of Sextus Propertius. He sent an inscribed copy to C. S. Lewis which is now in the Wade Center. In January of 1962, Lewis wrote to Watts thanking him for the gift of the book. Apparently Watts wrote to Lewis asking permission for something and Lewis give that permission with this letter. As is common with Lewis letters, it is not on a whole sheet of paper. It is 6.5" tall. The letter is in nice condition. There is a pin hole in the upper right corner and a band of faint discoloration along the right hand side.
