Signed First American Edition copy. Brown 62. Hooper A30. Inside the front cover is a bookplate with a cross above the name St. Edmund's. St. Edmund's is a college at Cambridge which is where C. S. Lewis was teaching in 1956. Above the cross is where Lewis signed (on the book plate.) The book has turquoise cloth boards with a black silhouette image on the front and black text on the spine. 174pp. Illustrations by Pauline Baynes. The pictorial dust wrapper has a gray-blue background. The front flap has angular cuts at top and bottom which appear to be from the publisher - the price of $2.75 remains. (Brown says the lower cut corner only is from the publisher.) The book is in marvelous condition with no ownership marks. The wrapper has slight edge wear at the spine and the back - VG+. ?And as He spoke, He no longer looked to them like a lion; but the things that began to happen after that were so great and beautiful that I cannot write them. And for us this the end of all the stories, and we can most truly say that they all lived happily ever after. But for them it was only the beginning of the real story.
