McCallum was a member of the Inklings and, while primarily known as an historian, his career was varied. Among other things he was Master of Pembroke College and editor of The Oxford Magazine. After Lewis died, McCallum was one of the Inklings who tried to keep the Monday morning meetings going, but without Lewis, it could not. McCallum summed it up this way, "When the sun goes out there is no more light in the solar system." More on McCallum in Hooper's Companion and Guide. This book was McCallum's most controversial.
