A first American edition of "Through the Looking Glass," the celebrated sequel to "Alice in Wonderland." From Wikipedia, "Alice again enters a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a mirror into the world that she can see beyond it. There she finds that, just like a reflection, everything is reversed, including logic (running helps you remain stationary, walking away from something brings you towards it, chessmen are alive, nursery rhyme characters exist, etc). Through the Looking-Glass includes such verses as 'Jabberwocky','The Walrus and the Carpenter', and the episode involving Tweedledum and Tweedledee." Forrest green cloth cover with gold lettering on the spine. Gilt border on the front cover. Gold embossed images on both front and back covers. Fifty black and white illustrations. 221 pp. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact, except for chips to top and bottom of spine. There are also some signs of wear to the covers and spine. Front and back hinge starting. First few pages beginning to detach. Some stains scattered throughout book. There is one publisher's error on page 21 where they put "wade" instead of "wabe." Text body is free from underlining, highlighting, or notes. Someone's gift inscription written on the flyleaf in pencil, "From Alice." Full refund if not satisfied.
