This pamphlet was broken out of a bound book of pamphlets. May have some glue residue at spine, staining or cockling. Small penciled name to title page. Benjamin Franklin Perry was a member of the SC House of Representatives who sympathized with the Unionist cause, but after SC seceded he supported the Confederacy. Following the war, President Andrew Johnson appointed him provisional governor of the state. This address, delivered while Perry was a member of the House, encourages South Carolinians to move away from an agriculture-based economy and to embrace industry and manufacturing.
