Inscribed first edition. William Elliott was an English Professor and missionary to Japan with the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society. The Collected Letters of C. S. Lewis show a letter written to Elliott in 1963. Apparently Elliott was translating Miracles into Japanese. Elliott's papers are at the University of Chicago Library. Clyde Kilby was the founder of the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton which is now the world's largest research center for C. S. Lewis and the Inklings.
