Daniel Pratt was the founder of Prattville, Alabama. Inscribed "J. B. Cumming from Dan Pratt June 16th, 1910. " Dan Pratt is not the subject of the book, but rather Daniel Pratt II, the grand nephew of the subject of the book. There are at least 3 places in the book where a note is neatly written in brown ink either correcting or adding to the text.
