He started newspapers and wrote pamphlets on social and political topics. In many ways he swayed popular opinion through his publishing ventures (and was friends with some of the founding fathers of America, such as Benjamin Franklin and George Washington). He was also the first to publish an American version of the Douay-Rheims Bible (a Roman Catholic translation) in 1790. Additionally, he printed King James Bibles, one of which is this particular copy. A beautiful leather Bible with an interesting personal history. Very Good.
