At Shelley and Son Books, we're always searching for nice books to purchase, from large collections to single volumes.

  • Any books or ephemera by or related to our specialties:

    • C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Dorothy Sayers, George MacDonald, G. K. Chesterton, Owen Barfield, Charles Williams

    • Old theology books - C. H. Spurgeon, John Calvin, John Wesley, (etc.), Commentaries, Bibles

We primarily purchase from customers from Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina, but if you have special treasures to sell, we're interested to hear from you!!

What's the process?

• We invite you to bring your books by our store 

  • Often we'll be able to tell you the same day which books we're interested in buying from you
  • For same day processing for one or several books, please call ahead, and plan to visit between lunch and 5:00pm
  • If you have lots of books, we may still be able to look through them that same day, but please plan on dropping your boxes off
  • If dropping boxes off and leaving them with us, we'll give you a slip that says we are in possession of your books, but that you own them
  • We try to turn an offer or declination around pretty quickly, and always try to get back with you within a week 

• You're always welcome to send us an email with photos of your books. 

  • If it's a single or several books, we're interested in images of the binding, the title page, and the copyright page
  • If we're interested in your books, we'll call you to set up an appointment to see it in person, or we may respond that we'd like to purchase it/them via email
  • We look forward to hearing from you!
