The History of Warner's Ranch and Its Environs

Los Angeles, CA: Privately Printed, 1927. FIRST EDITION. Hardcover. FIRST EDITION, 1927. Warner's Ranch presents a cross-section of the history of Southern California. Three American Indian cultures resided in this valley before its discovery by the white man and remained into the twentieth century. The Ranch was a strategic point of land trade and contact; American trappers and Gold Rush populations travelled through. This volume also focuses on the mountain water reservoir, now known as Lake Henshaw, which was constructed at Warner's Ranch as the project of William Griffith Henshaw. This has made the Ranch a favored grazing ground for thousands of cattle and sheep from mission days to the present. Illustrations, Appendices, 221 pp.
