A LITTLE ABOUT THE CONTENTS: "In the October 1851 issue of Harper's New Monthly Magazine 'The Town Ho's Story' was published, with a footnote reading: 'From The Whale'. The title of a new work by Mr. Melville, in the press of Harper and Brothers, and now publishing in London by Mr. Bentley." (Wikipedia). See page 658 for first printing from Melville's "Moby Dick".

CONDITION: Overall VG to VG+. External cover shows general shelf wear, especially at the corners and edges. Inner hinges have cracked, yet both boards are firmly attached and the binding is solid. Some foxing throughout, yet is unmarked except for notation on the front flyleaf and owner's previous name on the title page, both in pencil. Engravings are wonderful. Pagination appears complete.
