Dugald Stewart (22 November 1753 – 11 June 1828) was a Scottish philosopher and mathematician. Today regarded as one of the most important figures of the later Scottish Enlightenment, he was renowned as a popularizer of the work of Francis Hutcheson and Adam Smith. Trained in mathematics, medicine and philosophy, his lectures at the University of Edinburgh were widely disseminated by his many influential students. In 1783 he was a joint founder of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
CONDITION: Six volumes have had the bindings repaired with brown binding tape on outside of spine. Volume 1 has black binding tape on the spine and a white binding tape on the inside hinge. All bindings feel sound. Text blocks are sound. Library labels and hand written title on spines. Pages are clear and easily read. Due to size and weight of this set extra postage may be needed.
