In 1946 Lewis made a bet with Stephens, which was recorded in the college "Betting Book." Lewis bet that a certain Greek word did not appear in the Odyssey. The bet was for a bottle of port. Later in the "Betting Book" Stephens recorded that he paid the bet. Stephens became an Inkling in 1947. This book is volume XX in the Extra Series of the Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society. There was a small first edition in 1963. Maroon cloth boards with gilt text. 141 pp. Fine condition. A very nice copy. Shelley and Son Books specializes in C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien & the Inklings. Full refund if not satisfied. Fine.
