Bound in matching dark brown publisher's cloth. Title pages are red and black. Spines bear handwritten paper labels. Triple columned with Hebrew headers followed by English commentary. Includes A List of the Names of the Subscribers. Continuously paginated Volume I contains [16], 1-1218 pp; Volume II contains [4], 1227-2595 (some misnumbered), and an unpaginated Index to the Hebrew-English Concordance, Directing to the Hebrew Root, and Branch, under which any principal English Word in the Old Testament is to be Found" categorized in three columns by the English alphabet (first), followed by the Hebrew alphabet. Volume II also contains Easy Rules for Reading Hebrew, A List of Subscribers since the Publication of the first Volume, and Errata at the back, also unpaginated. Both volumes show considerable wear. Spines have been make-shiftly rebacked and boards contain lots of vintage tape to reinforce binding (both inside and out), which is separating. Hinges have cracked, yet all four boards are present. Ex-libris bookplates for Robert Henry Charles are affixed to both front pastedowns. Some discoloration and dampstain throughout. Unmarked except for notations in red ink within the front endpapers, and initials from a previous owner on the title page in dipped ink. On a shelf, this large folio set set spans 5 inches, and measures 15" tall x 10" wide x 2.25" thick, respectively. Text is still fully legible and bindings are suitable for handling with care.
