Contents include editorials, teachings, Board meeting notices, mission news, other nations' news and sermon topics from various areas in the country. Advertisements for schools and universities, musical instruments, medicine, insurance companies, church furniture are in each edition. Each weekly journal approximately 15-16 pp. A good source of Baptist history. THE PAPER AND ITS EDITORS: "The Journal and Messenger, owned and edited by Rev. G. W. Lasher, D, D., and Rev. G. P. Osborne, completed in 1898 its 67th year. It [had] steadily and vigorously promoted Baptist interests in Ohio, and to its influence are largely due their unity and prosperity. In 1876 Rev. Dr. Lasher became owner and editor, associating with himself, in 1888, Rev. G. P. Osborne. Noble S. Johnson, Ephraim Robins and Henry Miller were the leading spirits in its establishment in 1831. CONDITION: 17.5"x12" hardbound quarter marbled boards, gilt title on black tape spine. Normal shelf wear to corners and edges, rubbed. Tightly bound. Library sticker on spine, label on pastedown. Remainder of volume free of writing. Leaves are four-columned and nicely toned, easily read. An excellent source of Baptist history world wide. Full refund if not satisfied. Very Good.
