The printed sermons number close to 4,000, but there is no exact record available. They were published weekly as a "Penny Pulpit" pamphlet, then released in book form at the end of year. The first six volumes, called "The New Park Street Pulpit", cover the early years of Spurgeon's ministry at the New Park Street Chapel, 1855-1860; the fifty-six succeeding volumes published under the title The Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit.

This volume presents the first service in the Exeter Hall on February 11, 1855 (Vol. I) plus the sermons of 1856, (Vol. II) Frontispiece, Preface, Contents, paginated.

CONDITION: Black hardbound covers, gilt title and design on spine. Small number on front endpaper is only writing within. Page edges show scuffing. Near fine. Teal and cream illustrated dust jacket entitled in black text front and spine. Edges are tattered, rubbing and soiling evident. On rear jacket cover is the life of Spurgeon in 1855 and 1856 and the life circumstances he experienced during the writing and delivery of his sermons. Full refund if not satisfied.
