Bound in chocolate brown cloth, covers are plain with gilt lettering on the spine. The five sermons preached by Frederic W. Farrar within are: "What Heaven Is", "Is Life Worth Living", "'Hell' What It Is Not", "Are There Few That Be Saved?", and "Earthly and Future Consequences of Sin". lviii, 225 pp. Also includes "Brief Sketch of Eschatological Opinions of the Church", and five "Excursus", Texts, and advertisements at the back of other works by Rev. Farrar.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: "Dean Frederic William Farrar (1831–1903) was a senior-ranking cleric of the Church of England, schoolteacher and author. He was a pallbearer at the funeral of Charles Darwin in 1882. He was a member of the Cambridge Apostles secret society. He was the Archdeacon of Westminster from 1883 to 1894, and Dean of Canterbury from 1895 until his death in 1903." (Wikipedia).
CONDITION: Moderate external shelf wear. Hinges are strong and binding is sound. Leaves have gently toned and are unmarked except for Lucy Coleman Carnegie's name and a notation in pencil above noting relation to Andrew Carnegie. A very nice, unique copy. Full refund if not satisfied. Very Good.
