This reprint has some title pages which still say four volumes but the spines give division numbers up to eight. We have six of those: I, II, IV, V, VI, and VIII.
Each volume has a book plate for Honorable George Frederick Boyle. Each volume starts with several plates of subjects which include Robert Burns, John Knox, James Boswell, Rev. Thomas Blacklock, William Cullen MD, John Home, Alexander Gordon Lainge, Sir James MacIntosh, Major General David Stewart, Sir David Wilkie, Alexander Henderson, Robert Leighton, Sir Henry Raeburn, Allan Ramsay, George Buchanan, Hon. Henry Erskine, John Erskine, James Watt, Sir Ralph Abercromby, Gilbert Burnet,and many others. The general condition of the books is VG with an occasional lightly cracked hinge.
