This is an INCOMPLETE set with 14 volumes present out of 20 from the series. Volumes present are: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, and 20. Volumes MISSING are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 18.
Bound in matching forest green cloth, covers are plain with paper labels with black lettering on each spine. Top edges gilt. Foredge and foot are deckled. Title pages are printed in red and black ink. Illustrated throughout with plates in black and white and some in color. On a shelf, this set spans 21.5 inches.

CONDITION: Moderate external wear with rubbing and soiling, and several spine labels are dampstained yet readable. Spine with attached board has detached from the binding on volumes 14 and 15, yet books are is still readable. Missing one leaf from the table of contents in volume 14 (pages xxiii & xiv). Leaves have lightly toned with occasional dampstain, yet are unmarked except for previous owner's antiquarian bookplate (for J. F. Bigony, M.D.) affixed to the front pastedown with the number, shelf, cost and date of when it was catalogued. Delightfully, a copy of his son, Ellsworth Bigony's handwritten grade school report card from Hinton Public School, West Virginia, is tucked into volume 17. It is for the Spring and Fall terms, dated 1911, and is signed by his father for both semesters on the back. A solid incomplete copy.
