Wolfe City, TX: The Henington Publishing Company, 1964. First Edition. Hardcover. This work was started as a hobby of Elbert F. Johnston while he living in Washington, D.C. The Library of Congress was used extensively as were the Archives. An old Bible record owned by Sally Johnston of Hanceville, Alabama, dated back to 1778 was used as reference. Later, an earlier Bible record dating to 1697 was discovered, having been published in the DAR magazine in 1940. Most of the information within book has been obtained either directly by Johnston or from Bible records. The Contents include Abbreviations, Numbering System, References and Foreword; Early History; Descendants of Robert Johnston; Descendants of Larkin Johnston; Descendants of William and Ann Chew Johnston. x, Index, 670 pp.
CONDITION: Hardbound brown boards, gilt title on front and spine. Sound binding, light soiling and rubbing. Owner stamp on front endpaper and on back of title page. Text is unmarked. The plain, untitled beige dustjacket is considerably chipped and torn in places with discoloration. A fine genealogical reference. Full refund if not satisfied. Very Good / Good.
